Applewood Centers is a partner agency of the Wingspan Care Group, a non-profit administrative service organization providing a united, community-based network of services so member agencies can focus on mission-related goals and operate in a more cost-effective and efficient manner.
Doctoral interns provide individual and family therapy as well as psychodiagnostic assessment to children and adolescents with a broad range of diagnoses.
Doctoral interns are integrated with Applewood's Outpatient Department and serve on multidisciplinary teams, working closely with psychiatrists, counselors, and other individuals who advocate for clients and their families. The Doctoral Internship program aims to develop psychologists committed to valuing cultural differences.
Applewood strives to provide an internship that is safe and welcoming, as the Doctoral Internship program values trainees from diverse backgrounds. The program strongly encourages applicants from diverse cultural backgrounds and APA Minority fellows to apply to our program. In addition to competency in individual/cultural differences, the Doctoral Internship program trains doctoral level students to develop and demonstrate profession-wide competencies such as ethical and legal standards, assessment, supervision, consultation, etc. that are essential to the delivery of psychological services.
